Slow Mornings
There’s a moment, somewhere between the first coffee and the first swim off the dock, when the weekend starts to feel like yours. 120 rooms, an indoor pool, a spa, a 240-foot pier — and most of it facing the water.
Check-in is at 4 pm, check-out at 11 am. Most mornings here, the only question is whether you paddle before breakfast or after.
Open all year — the lake just changes what it asks of you.
The water is cool. The pier is open. The rest can wait. Kayaks, paddleboards and two electric pontoons, free to borrow for guests. Sunrise paddles at 6:30. Swim lessons on Saturdays. A lifeguard on the swim float from 10 to 6. Boat slips by the day, no room required.

A DAY AT SABLEMERE
A summer day at Sablemere, in the order it tends to happen.
Right outside the gate
The path follows the water past boathouses, old stone walls and private piers, and anyone can walk it. Guests usually start with the stretch toward town — about forty minutes at an easy pace, with coffee at the end.
Ask the front desk for the paper map we keep by the door: it marks the benches, the steep stone steps, and the three places where the path narrows to a single plank.
Get the path mapLong table dinners on the lawn. Late evenings at the Pier Bar. Sablemere Kitchen cooks over hardwood: walleye off the grill, sweet corn in August, a relish tray and a brandy old fashioned on Fridays. The Pier Bar opens at 4 and closes when the fire circle does. Open all year — table reservations recommended.
Come hungry. Stay for the sunset.

SMALL THINGS THAT MAKE THE WEEKEND

A cedar sauna, a cold plunge after it, and six treatment rooms at Sablemere Spa. Some afternoons are just for this.

The Pier Bar is a proper bar with a lake view. Brandy old fashioneds, local beer on tap, and no reason to be anywhere else. The evening is yours — take your time with it.

Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards at the boathouse from 6:30 am. One loop of the bay, then straight to breakfast. That’s the sequence.

Twelve chairs, a stack of split oak and s’mores kits at the bar. Lit every night at sundown from May to October.

Two small sailboats for guests with some experience, and lessons on Saturday mornings for guests with none. Life jackets in every size.

When the ice is thick enough, the pier becomes a skating rink and the lawn a sledding hill. Snowshoes are free at the front desk.
Closer than you think
Chicago is 80 miles. Milwaukee is 50. O’Hare is about 75 minutes by car. Sablemere sits at the point where the drive north becomes an easy yes – close enough for a long weekend, far enough to feel genuinely away.

Six meeting rooms on the lake. Two boardrooms for twelve, three mid-sized rooms for 30–60 guests, and the Great Room for up to 180 theater-style. Breaks on the porch. Afternoons that run into the fire circle. Lake air from every window.
Every room has daylight, a screen and windows that open. Coffee is refilled without asking, lunch can move outside, and the boathouse will take a group of twenty out on the pontoons at four. One call to our events team puts the whole day together.
Plan a retreatFrom the ceremony on the lawn to the last dance in the Great Room – every detail is yours to shape. Up to 180 guests, one wedding a day, and a rain plan under the timber roof. Long table suppers by the water, and evenings that don’t want to end.
