Rebuilt from your posture up: 50 minutes, one to one

Honegumi is a personal gym by appointment only, beside Utsubo Park in Osaka. Standing, squatting, lifting something off the floor. We take the movements you repeat every day and put them back in order, one person at a time.

What to expect

The first trial session is free

We begin by asking you to stand and walk. We photograph the height of your shoulders and hips and the way your feet land, then tell you on the spot which part to start with so that everyday movement gets easier.

With the time left, you try two or three exercises you can start that day. We do not take a sign-up there and then. You can go home and think about it.

See how the day runs

Honegumi is not a place for competing over weight. Standing, squatting, lifting. We put the frame of those movements back in order so that ten years from now you are still moving under your own power.

Why Honegumi

One trainer to one member, who does not leave your side for 50 minutes

Strength and joint range differ from person to person. At Honegumi we measure posture and movement on your first visit and set the weight and the number of repetitions to the range you actually have. However many years you have been away from exercise, it is our side that adjusts.

50 min

The length of one session. With changing and measuring, a visit runs to about 70 minutes.

3

Trainers on the staff. Your trainer is set when you join and does not change partway through.

Training

Three things, for people who have been away from exercise

There are only three at Honegumi: time spent moving, time spent measuring how you move, and time spent looking back over what you ate. The same trainer handles all three.

Personal training

Fifty minutes, one to one. The weight comes from the record of your last session. We stop for the day at the point where your form breaks. Repeating the same movement in the same shape counts for more than the number of reps.

Posture and movement assessment

On your first visit and every three months, we measure how you stand, how you squat and how far your shoulders and hips travel, and keep the photographs. Progress is read from the previous photograph and the numbers, not from how it feels.

Food log

You send photographs of what you ate and we reply once a week in one go. We do not prescribe menus. Send the weeks with meals out and drinks in them too, exactly as they were.

Looking round is fine too

If you would rather see the place before deciding, come and look round without training. Everyday clothes are fine. It takes about fifteen minutes, and going straight home afterwards is perfectly all right.

First visit

How the first 50 minutes run

Here is what happens on the day of a trial session, in order. There is nothing to bring. Clothes, shoes and a towel are ready for you.

01

Questions and measuring · 15 min

We ask about past injuries, how you live now, and which movements hurt. Then we measure how you stand and how far your shoulders and hips travel.

02

Moving · 25 min

Working from what we measured, you try two or three exercises. We start light and stop while the shape still holds.

03

What comes next · 10 min

We tell you the order to work through and how many times a week is realistic. We do not take a sign-up there and then.

Trainers

The three who take your 50 minutes

The three have coached different people, but the way they measure on a first visit and the way they keep records follow the same steps. Your trainer is set when you join and does not change partway through.
