(02) WHAT A CONTRACTOR WEBSITE NEEDS
(6)Six things, before any style. Your preview is built around them.
| What it needs | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Project photos grouped by job type | Owners hire from finished work they can see. Kitchens, additions or commercial fit-outs, each in their own set, answer “have you done one like mine?” |
| The jobs you take and the area you cover | A clear list saves calls about work outside your area, size or trade. |
| License and insurance, stated plainly | Homeowners and property managers look for them before they call. |
| A call button on every screen | A visitor on a phone should reach you in one tap, from any page. |
| Reviews linked to where they were left | Linking to your Google reviews lets visitors check them for themselves. |
| A bid request that asks the right questions | Address, job type and timeline in the first email cut the back-and-forth. |
Before you decide. Your domain stays registered in your name. On the monthly plan, cancel by email any time: we take the site down and help you point your domain elsewhere. On the one-time option, you receive your website files at launch. After launch, new pages or design and layout changes are agreed in writing, with scope and cost, before work begins, and a content editor is optional, with the editable areas agreed before work begins. (03) THE CLOSEST CONCEPT SITES
(3)Fictional names, licensed photos. Every one opens as a working site.
Offices, shops and dining rooms built inside existing buildings. Oversized oxide wordmark, a stage where the photo grows from bare shell to finished floor, and a handover log in place of awards.
- Bid request button in the header
- Week-by-week site timeline
- Handover log with sizes and weeks

A three-partner Chicago architecture studio for two-flats, storefronts and small workplaces. A facade film loops in the hero, services open photo stickers on hover, and a weekly site log stands in for press.
- Three phases with their durations
- Weekly site walk and photo log
- Inquiry reply within two days

A 24-hour mobile truck repair crew for sixty contract fleets around Spokane. Truck-repair video in the hero, a mile counter that rolls into place, service cards that fan apart as you scroll, and a drawn 150-mile map.
- Call dispatch in header and hero
- Service radius map with corridors
- Fleet billing questions answered

Tarnwell Builders is a fictional general contractor built as a working concept site. Merritt Row Architects and Palouse Fleet Repair show the same parts for a design studio and a service crew.
Concept analysis: Tarnwell Builders. The brief we set ourselves: a building owner or broker comparing contractors wants to see the kind of work, how the schedule is run and how to ask for a bid, without a phone call. Tarnwell Builders is a fictional company, so the brief is ours, not a client’s.
What we chose: (1) a “Request a Bid” link in the header, with a phone number and an email address; (2) the method written week by week: a schedule and line-item budget in week one, the permit set by week three and a photo log every Friday; (3) a handover log of finished jobs with size and time on site, for example an 18,400 sq ft office floor in 16 weeks.
What we checked, on October 8, 2026: the three items above are present as text and links in the published concept page. That is a check of the page itself, not a usability study; a fictional contractor has no bids or clients to report, and its demo links do not send requests. Open the Tarnwell Builders concept
(04) HOW IT GOES
(4)Preview first. The full site next. Then you decide.
- 01 · PREVIEWOnce you tell us you’re interested, we build a limited first draft from what is already public — your photos, menus or rooms, hours, services and reviews — and send you a link, with the price and date for the full site. Looking is free.
- 02 · BUILDNo form and no reply needed. Your concept email sets out the pages, photos, price and date in writing; we build the full site from it.
- 03 · REFINEAfter confirming your material and scope, we aim to send the full website about seven days from the preview email. The actual delivery date is stated in that email. Five revision rounds inside the scope in your concept email, all on the same live link.
- 04 · LAUNCHPay only if you want it live: $79 a month or $1,290 once plus $200 a year for hosting. Paying starts your plan; we launch on a free address like yourbusiness.arupix.com. Your own domain is optional, any time later.

Once: US$1,290 for the build, then US$200/year for hosting from year one, and extra pages US$200 each. Your site launches on a free Arupix address, and your own domain, which stays with your registrar, is connected whenever you ask. (01)Which pages does a contractor website need?
Most start with five: home, services, projects, about (with license and insurance) and contact with your service area. Both plans include up to 5 pages.
(02)Can you use the photos from my past jobs?
Yes, when they are yours or you have permission. We group them by job type, use licensed stock only where you have none, and say so in your concept email.
(03)Is the preview really free?
Yes. We email a free, limited homepage preview with the proposed pages, price and delivery date in writing. Once your material and the scope are confirmed, we aim to send the full website about seven days after the preview email. You only pay if you choose to launch it.
(04)Can the site show my license, insurance and the towns I work in?
Yes. Your license number, insurance and the towns you serve go on the page as text, next to the call button. We publish only the credentials you provide.
(05)How do customers ask for an estimate?
With the call button on every screen and an email link or your existing estimate form. The page lists what to include, such as address, job type and photos. The site does not schedule jobs or take deposits.
